Therapy Process
My approach to therapy is cyclical. Think of a spiral returning to familiar challenges, but from a new, broader angle. As you grow, the symptoms of mental health challenges ease and you find more space to be your authentic self.
We’ll use the tools on the right to help you recover from or effectively manage your mental health symptoms while increasing your satisfaction in life.
Observing without judgment, we work together to identify the automatic thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that cause distress. We also discover your inherent strengths, longings, motivators, values, and goals.
Discover
All of those patterns came from somewhere. We explore how the ways you think, feel, and act today are based in your early attachment relationships, chronic stressors, past traumas, social context, major life experiences, and other factors. I support you to create space for and process the emotions related to the past experiences.
Process
We consider how the patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are serving you. What do they protect? What do they allow for? And also - how do they trip you up or cause you or others distress?
Assess
How could things be different? Feeling different involves doing different. You start to make changes in how you do what you do, and we reflect together on how these changes in behavior influence how you feel - and identify the next action steps in your spiral of growth.

Change can feel disruptive. Even though you want to feel, act, and think differently than you do now, you’re used to how you’ve been living and it can feel strange to make changes. We work through that discomfort together to build an integrated, coherent sense of self that includes your new ways of thinking, feeling, and taking action in your life.
